Getting the pixel dimensions right keeps your image sharp and your pages fast. Oversized images are one of the most common reasons web pages load slowly, so trimming a photo to the size it’s actually displayed at is an easy, instant performance win — and faster pages tend to rank and convert better.
Common targets include 1080 × 1080 px for an Instagram post, 1280 × 720 px for a YouTube thumbnail, 1200 × 630 px for a social share image and 851 × 315 px for a Facebook cover. Keep the aspect-ratio lock on so nothing stretches, and resize down rather than up wherever you can to preserve detail — if you need a bigger image, use the Upscale tool instead.
